Do you believe
I was working tonight recording a christmas concert and heard a conversation about beliving in santa. I dont know about santa being jewish but my wife wanted my girls to believe and so we set about letting them. after many years of milk and cookies I think that my 8 year old is on the verge of not beliving any more. Now we have a problem how do we make sure that she doesnt spoil it for my 3 year old. It is not something that you can just ask like "do you still believe in santa" do that and the whole thing is over and you cant say dont tell your sister that santa isnt real, she might still belive a little and then you lose that. So you see I have a problem. I just thought I would put it out there and see what you all think. Ill just sit here and watch my chanuka candles burn for 8 nights and wonder how to tell my girls when they ask that I never believed in santa. Goodnight all

I spoke with Neto (my brother/roommate) about this to try and remember how our parents managed to keep us in the dark and once one of us found out how they kept it from the rest of us. There being 4 of us Segura kids, they had to have been pretty creative. Anyway, the only thing we could really remember is that they made us a part of the secret. I don't remember how they told us or what they said, but including us made us not want to tell the secret. I think they probably told us something about how they just help the real Santa because he has trouble getting to all the kids or something and then let us help them keep the secret. The idea of being "grown up" enough to share a secret with our parents made us want to keep Santa a secret from our siblings. Even though the ages in our household now range from 21-27 and we all know the truth about Santa, there has never once been a Christmas without him. We still get stockings and Santa gifts every year. We may not believe in Santa anymore, but we still very much believe in the spirit of him.
Good Luck
