Happy Passover

Well spring is here and so is the Passover Seder. I guess that for the past 8 to 10 years my sister and I have been doing the Seder for our family. Each year it gets a bit harder for my parents to make the food for the Seder so this year I wanted to do the whole Seder at my house. My dad wouldn't have that. It went ok but as I suspected mom is not able to remember much of the Seder and many of out family melodies have been lost because I don't remember them well enough and my sister is not able to reconstruct them either. I am going to try and get some recordings of the family melodies from my dad if he is willing so I can better learn them for next year. I know my folks are getting old and the chance for these traditions to survive are now with me my sister and our kids. I hope that we can do it.

Over time

Over time I have learned that all the work of raising children can not even begin to match the joy of watching as they grow. Hope and Suzi have been able to show me this in a number of ways. Yesterday Suzi asked if she could help with the dishes and Hope helped clear the table. I don't know where they got the idea I never asked for help but it sure was nice. I know I can not expect them to always be neat and clean but I have A small chance of encouraging them to be if I just don't nag them too much. I guess I must be doing something right in the way Im parenting them right now. I just had to put down in words how much what they did meant to me

New speakers!

Well new to me at least. A friend gave me a set of early 70s' JBL L-88s. Now for those of you not old enough to remember these monsters they were the stuff of great parties and many long weekends with yes and the stones and ..... You get the picture speakers that get loud and have a great bottom and top but almost no mid. To put it another way the speakers of my youth. I have been having the best time pulling out the old records and listening to my past scratches pops and clicks and all. I cant listen to the radio now I don't want to hear any rap played on these but I sure am thinking I need to get some CD's of my old lp collection. Before you say it yes I know that there are better sounding speakers and ones that are more true to the recordings but the memory of big JBL woofers and my first few bottles of wine and well you know.. It just cant be evoked with anything else. I don't think I have felt this way in a long time and I sure hope that it lasts a long time. I don't even think Ill mind doing the taxes if I can just sit here and listen to my speakers and my old music. Just found my CD of running on empty, Ill be back later when I run out of old music to play.
