All the news

Well here goes it is not at all good but here it is. My Shop computer died so did my laptop and I got pink eye. My youngest kid has a fever of 103.9 and my wife has a fever of 101.6. We are just having a really bad year. I cant say why it has started this way but I can tell you that if it keeps up much longer Ill be in the poor house. I know that it will pass but someone has been sick in this house since 2 weeks before christmas. On the good side of things I do want to say that after march 1st I hope to be on vacation. I will have been married for 17 years on feb 28th and we will try to go to the lodge where we spent our first married weekend to mark the event. Im telling you all this so you can see that I live a normal life full of stress and joy like all the rest. I do think that when familys get into a cycle of sickness the first thing most people do is ask why. I just say I have not been sick for a while I guess it is my turn. I also think that you get to take turns at being happy having good luck at work and luck with cars. So untill my luck turns with my computer and health Ill just ask that you all keep me in your good thoughts list. Im going to go and try to fix something I do know how to fix, and leave the computer and the health issues to someone else. I am however looking forward to spring and the warmth of the sun to make me feel a bit more human then I do right now.

homeward bound

Well it looks like we are going to get that snow so I worked a little late. The next few days it will be hard to get around in this town and parking on monday will be as hard to find as gnats balls but I guess that winter is here and I should just quit bitching. I hope that you all have somewhere warm to be and someone to spend your snow time with. Im looking to spend a bit of time with my family and my guitars. Be careful everyone.

Waiting for snow

They say it is coming lots of snow at least for here 12" is a lot. We all know that we will only get about half of what the weather person says we will. I remember in 1965 we had 3' of snow on the ground it was glorious. the sled hill was huge and all the kids in the development met there right after school for weeks. '65 was the best year but there were others like it. Now I watch my kids eyes get big when the news says we are going to have snow. Suzi wants to take her skis out and practice for our vacation in march when we go to vermont. I guess that I still get a bit excited about snow. I had a heart attack 3 years ago and Im not supposed to shovel alot of snow so I have a snow blower tommorrw Ill dig into the garage and pull it to the front in readiness for what in all likelihood will be little more then a dusting. I do admit that I am looking forward to riding down the hill with my youngest daughter. I like winter I like snow and ice even thought it means the bike has to sit quiet an wait from spring.

Sick and Tired

Well I guess that waht I said in my last post about being too old for road work caught up with me. I now have a low grade fever and feel like garbage. I didnt even get out of bed much for the past 2 days. my wife and kids went to NJ to see her folks. I was supposed to go but thought it would be better to stay away. I dont know how to say no to people and that is how I ended up working 14 days straight 12 to 15 hrs a day for some of the time. Now Im being forced to slow down a bit and Im feeling a little better today then yesterday. I hope that I can get back to work by wed at least part time. Oh well thats all I can even think about right now as my head pounds in the backround. enought complaining Ill be back when I feel healthy again

Im back

Well I have found out that I really am too old to do this kind of road work. I didnt get much sleep even thought this time the folks next door were quiet. I just dont like the hotel life and living from a suitcase. The part of road work that I do like is the work though. I find that people really do know when you have done a good job and will find nice ways to show that they are happy you came. At the conference I recorded one of the coordinators saw that I didnt leave to go get breakfast because there was a problem with one of the rooms, about 10 min after the start of the meeting she brought me breakfast at the table I had the equipment set up at. I offered to pay for the food and she said "your working hard for us it is the least I can do" . I went from the conference to the sears store in mays landing NJ to replace a paging system. The people in the store seem to know that it is the worst kind of work even if they have never been in the ceiling before! At one point during the day I went to get a soda and when I opened the bottle it sprayed on the floor. I ran for some paper towel but when I got back the mess was gone. One of the stock room workers cleaned it up saying I like hearing the music again thanks for your effort to make the system better cleaning it up was no big thing. They both miss the point, it is a big thing, when most of what you do goes unnoticed unless it is done wrong. I cant tell you how nice it is when you do get a bit of notice for the work and the effort you put into doing a good job. Thank you both for making my week a bit nicer.

On the road

I guess that I should be happy to go places and see people that I dont see every day but I find that going out of town on business is not all it is cracked up to be. I miss my kids and dont like to sleep alone. really ! I find myself eating more then I should and wishing that I had not later. Have you ever noticed that it is the night that you have to work late and then wake up early that the couple in the next room finds the need to have a party. Then the morning you can sleep later is the day they decide to vacuum the hall and bang into your door? Oh well for better or worse the next five nights Ill be on the road. I guess that I should pack ear plugs and my guitar for the late nights spent watching the tapes duplicate. On the lighter side at least Ill get to swim each morning and have someone else make the bed! Have a good few days, I think that the place Im staying has hi speed access if not I will post on sunday when I can stop at the shop on my way to NJ.

Goodmorning 2005

Well I hope that all of my friends had a good night last night and that all of you have made it home safe and sound. Im trying to look at this next year as a chance to get thingsd back on track and have more time to be and do what makes me me. This year as always starts with the ritual of packing down the christmas lights at tysons corner should be a load of fun as we are missing some of our crew. Then I go to CT. for a weekend of recording at the regional NA convention. Sears Mays landing will be the next stop as I replace the PA in that store. Work for excelon and PCOM will round out the first 2 months of the year. This is by way of saying if I seem distracted I may well be. Thankyou for all the nice comments and contacts over the past year I do hope to talk to all of you in 2005 and maybe even meet if our paths happen to be close enought to cross.
